What is screen casting?
Screen casting (also referred to as 'screen mirroring') is a super nifty tool when it comes to collaborative working. It allows you to show what you’re seeing and doing on your laptop or PC, on a bigger screen for a group to see. This means that if you’re in a meeting and you’re working on a single document or spreadsheet as a group, you’ll all be able to work on it together without having to crowd around a small screen or have half the group be unable to see what’s going on.
It can also be ideal for things like project planning or SCRUM standup meetings, where you might all be working from a shared scheduling platform and Project Managers - as well as other employees - might need to be able to get a peek at what everyone is up to. It even allows you to present your screen during a meeting so that you can run through any slideshows you might need to.
Even better - with Fugo, this is all nice and easy. Unlike other screen casting solutions out there, Fugo doesn’t require a specific or proprietary player to work; it’ll work with any screen that’s connected to your Fugo account. On top of that, Fugo is a whole lot more than just a screen casting solution.
💡 Please note: Screen Casting is available only on the Core & Enterprise plans. To cast to up to 10 screens simultaneously, you'll need to upgrade to a Core Plan subscription.
To cast to any more than 10 screens simultaneously, you'll need to contact sales@fugo.ai about getting started with an Enterprise plan.
So - how do you do it?
How to enable the casting link & instructions on your screen
Note that your screen/s will need to already be paired to Fugo in order to use the casting feature. If you haven't set your screen up in Fugo yet, you can check out our Getting Started guide to find instructions.
As of July 2024, we've introduced a new feature into the casting feature set which will allow viewers of your screens to cast from their devices without logging into Fugo CMS.
All you'll need to do is toggle on a setting from inside your screen's dashboard that will will display a casting link with instructions for your viewers about how the can cast to your Fugo-connected screen.
Here's how to do that:
1. Sign into your Fugo account at www.fugo.ai/app or start a 14 day free trial if you haven't set an account up yet.
2. Go to the Screens page of your account.
3. Choose the screen that you want to set up with casting instructions. Click on its name to open its dashboard.
4. Open the Casting tab from the left-hand panel.
5. Toggle the setting for DISPLAY CASTING INSTRUCTIONS TO VIEWERS on.
This will automatically display a pop up on your screen that has casting instructions for your viewers. The instructions will include a unique link that your viewers can open in their browsers to start casting. We'll cover what to do with that link in the next section.
6. There are a few configurations you can choose from for the instructions:
The ADJUST STYLE OF CASTING INSTRUCTIONS dropdown will allow you to choose from two styles of instructions:
Pop up
Bar
The ADJUST SIZE OF CASTING INSTRUCTIONS dropdown will allow you to choose from two sizes of instructions:
Standard
Big
Here's roughly what each style & size will look like on screen:
Standard pop up:
Big pop up:
Standard bar:
Big bar:
The ADJUST POSITIONING OF CASTING INSTRUCTIONS drop down will allow you choose whether your pop up stays in one static position on your screen or jumps between positions on screen:
7. If your viewers will need your WiFi credentials, you can choose to add them to the instructions. Toggle Display your Wi-Fi details to viewers on, then enter your network name and password in the fields.
Here's what it looks like in pop up format:
And here's what it looks like in bar format:
Your link and instructions are now ready! You can disable the casting link any time by toggling the DISPLAY CASTING INSTRUCTIONS off.
How viewers can cast their screen using Fugo's casting link
💡 If you need a simple, friendly guide that you can share with the non-Fugo users in your organization who will be using your casting link, check out this article.
On your screens where you've enabled the casting instructions, your viewers will follow this process to cast their screen:
1. Enter the link from the casting instructions into their laptop browser. We recommend they use Chrome.
2. A pop up will appear, prompting them to choose which of their currently running programs to cast: Tab, Window, or Entire Screen.
Click Share.
3. Click Stop Sharing whenever they're done presenting.
That's it!

Help! Casting isn't working
If you're using a private, enterprise, or secure network at your workplace, this can affect the performance of the casting feature.
This is typically the case if there is an active firewall, stricut NAT, or security restrictions set for the network or work-based device you're using. We generally advise connecting with your workplace administrator or IT to see if your permissions or security policy settings require updates in order for you to cast to your TV screens with Fugo.
To help that process along, we recommend that you start by adding the following domains and ports to your allow list:
stun.l.google.com:19302 - this is the domain & port of our STUN server.
0.peerjs.com:3478 - this is the domain & port of our TURN server.
0.peerjs.com:443 - this is the domain & port of our Web Socket connection.
You can also refer here to Fugo's list of domains and ports to whitelist on your network if required by your organization.
