Looking for an efficient way to display your Google Sheets on workplace TV screens? Fugo’s TV Dashboards feature provides an alternative to our Google Sheets app.
This guide will show you how to use the TV Dashboards feature to connect and display your Google Sheets data, offering a flexible and reliable solution for your business needs.
What is the TV Dashboards feature?
Fugo’s TV Dashboards feature allows you to securely display live, password-protected dashboards, web pages, or apps on your workplace TVs. Using a Chrome extension, the feature captures real-time screenshots of your dashboard and updates them automatically on your screen without storing your browser data.
This alternative method is ideal for Google Sheets, ensuring that your data is always up-to-date and visually accessible without the need for manual interventions or expensive hardware.
Setting up your Google Sheet with TV Dashboards
1. Navigate to the Dashboards page and click Create Dashboard.
2. Enter your Google Sheet's URL into the menu and click Open Dashboard.
3. Install the Fugo Dashboard Recorder Chrome extension using the provided button.
4. Make sure to toggle on "Allow in incognito" - otherwise the Chrome extension may not capture your steps correctly!
5. Now you're ready to go! Go back to the popup and hit continue. Now you'll need to log into your Google account.
6. Once you've logged in, your Google Sheet should be shown. You can either hit Capture Dashboard immedately or use the Eraser tool to remove any unwanted elements.
7. After a minute or two, your sheet should show up and is ready to publish!
Customizing & cropping your Google Sheet display
After connecting your Google Sheet, you may want to adjust its appearance for better on-screen readability. Fugo’s Design Studio provides tools to crop and customize your dashboard:
Cropping your Google sheet
Add your sheet to the Design Studio canvas from the Dashboards tab in the settings panel to the left of the canvas.
Select the Crop Tool from the top toolbar:
Blue crop box: Adjust the visible frame of your dashboard, removing unnecessary elements.
Purple crop box: Resize and position your dashboard within the frame for optimal display.
Adding additional elements
Enhance your dashboard display with:
Company logos: Drag and drop your logo onto the canvas for branding.
Live data apps: Include apps like World Clock or news feeds to complement your dashboard.
QR codes: Add scannable calls to action or links.
Text overlays: Highlight important notes or updates with text boxes.
